Catalytic purification and refinement of hydrogen
Hydrogen produced by electrolysis typically contains small residual amounts of oxygen. However, highly pure hydrogen is required for use in fuel cells and other sensitive applications. Generally, the oxygen content in the hydrogen stream must not exceed 5 ppmv in order to obtain, for example, 99.9995% pure H2.
The DeOxo-Kat NEO330 is a catalytic purification system designed for the efficient removal of oxygen from hydrogen streams originating from electrolysis plants. A water-free or pre-dried hydrogen stream is a prerequisite for operation.
Within the nanostructured catalyst, the remaining oxygen reacts with hydrogen to form water. The resulting water can then be removed from the gas stream using suitable drying systems. This allows the oxygen content to be reliably reduced to levels below 5 ppmv, depending on the operating conditions.
The DeOxo-Kat NEO330 thus enables the purification of electrolytic hydrogen to a quality that meets the requirements of modern fuel cells and other highly sensitive hydrogen applications.
